Ok so let's go back in time.. Four weeks to be exact. The date was February 12th. Austin and I were headed for the Canyons Resort in Park City, Utah for a fun-filled day of snowboarding and burgers. This was my first time ever and I was excited to learn. Austin was ecstatic, he hadn't been boarding in 5 years. So because it was my first time we went to the easiest slope. Austin helped me strap in my right foot and we (I) slowly scooted my way to the lift. The person at the bottom slowed it down so I could get on. As we approached the top of the mountain Austin shouted to the person that I was a beginner and to slow the lift down. Well they didn't and when I got off I couldn't catch my balance and felt the lift hit my back which then caused me to fall! I fell backwards and hit my head on the ground. I sat up thinking "what the heck just happened??" Not only was I extremely embarrassed but my right wrist was throbbing. I wanted to cry, but Austin made me get up and learn how to snowboard. I fell a few more times but it made it down alive. When I got to the bottom I could feel that my wrist was swollen so I took off my glove and sure enough it had swelled like a golf ball right below my thumb. I kinda started to freak out. We got it looked at right away and before I knew it we were being escorted out of the park. We were told to go have my wrist x-rayed to see if it was broken.

I felt so bad I ruined Austin's snowboarding trip. He really didn't get to go down the mountain like he would have liked. Thanks Austin for being SO PATIENT with me. I will do better next time : )

So we left Park City and headed to Springerville to have Austin's uncle look at my wrist. When we got there the swelling had gone down quite a bit and the x-rays did not show a break. That was good news, however it was possible that I fractured it. But they were not 100% sure. So I got a brace and was told to have it x-rayed in a couple of weeks.

So when we got home I decided to go see a specialist for my wrist. I had additional x-rays taken 2 weeks ago and that dr. said he couldn't say for sure anything was wrong. So he had me wear that brace for 2 more weeks. Today I went back, had MORE x-rays taken and same thing, NOTHING! I'm so frusterated! My wrist still hurts. So now he says I must have just sprained my wrist really bad so I have the pleasure for the next 4 weeks to go to "Hand Therapy." Doc says if I'm still in pain by then I will have to have a MRI! FUN STUFF! I can't believe all of this for snowboarding???!!
Aggh that looks painful! The first time I went I seriously wanted to quit and walk all the way down the mountain because my butt and wrists couldn't take anymore abuse! It gets way better after you have experienced your first fall and thats great that you have a pro like Austin to help!
