What I gave him for his birthday was a bag of trail mix, a play camera & compass, and this poem...

Austin chose to go up to Lakeside to spend the weekend. My grandparents have a house there & we stay in their garage apartment. Every time we go up there I fail to take pictures of their house! Maybe next time I will remember :) He also decided that we all go to Globe & spend the day with Thomas.
Austin has recently picked up driving Saturday Air for UPS so we waited until he got home to head up. We left our house about 3:00 pm & got to Show Low around 5:30. This was Tredd's first road trip & by this point he was screaming to get out, plus Jhett peed his pants when he fell asleep so we decided to stop & eat dinner.

Pizza Hut was the choice. It was a sit down restaurant. I don't ever see them around anymore. It was nice to get out & stretch our legs. Jhett got his pants changed & Tredd had a poopy diaper which too got changed. (no wonder he was angry) We got seated in a booth & while waiting for our pizza we took some pictures.
Tredd getting his dinner of Mixed Vegetables. MMM!

Dinner was yummy. Tredd threw up his entire meal while we were eating but just giggled afterwards. He was either a little too excited or car sick. I can't figure out why he vomited. After dinner we drove to my grandparents house & visited with them & had cake & ice cream. The one thing that is the hardest with going on vacations is bedtime. Jhett did not want to go to bed & Tredd had a hard time going to sleep because we were all in one room & so all the noise, plus the lights, & tv made it difficult. But we all crashed once the lights went out.

When we woke up Sunday morning, my grandma made us breakfast. Jhett was too excited to leave to go ride the train that he wouldn't eat. We left their house about 9:00 AM to head back down towards Globe. We had to stop once for gas & then once on the side of the road so Jhett could pee. We got to Globe about 10:30. Our train ride wasn't until 12:45 so we had plenty of time to check out all the booths and activities they had going on.

To get to the event they had school buses shuttling people downtown. Jhett was excited he got to finally ride a school bus. Whenever we pass them on the road he always asks to ride one. I was excited for him too. Tredd however, was very unsure about the whole thing.
This first thing Jhett wanted to do was check out all the train merchandise. He was in Train Heaven!

They had a mini train giving rides. Jhett was so excited about this. What was even nicer is the event wasn't that crowded so Jhett was able most of the time to just stay on when it came to a stop & keep riding.

There were 4 bounce houses. The slide was Jhetts favorite. He got to go up & down on this one several times too.

Ready... Set...

Putting his boots back on to see what else they have to play with or on.

More mini train rides.

Tredd wanted to get out & play so badly.

Under one of the tents they had a bunch of train tables for kids to play with, face painting, temperary tattoos, coloring pages, stamps, & macaroni necklace making. Jhett was only interested in the toy trains.

Before the train could go everyone had to yell "PUSH THOMAS PUSH!" over & over again. Jhett was a little unsure of about it.

Gazing out the window.

Mr. Chunky Pants.

Funny Faces.

Why won't my child smile for the camera?!

After we got off the train I really wanted to get a picture of Thomas at the front of the train but the line was so dang long and Jhett was hungry so Austin said he knows of a couple of places the train will go by & we can get a picture then. So we drove to one of the spots & Austin & Jhett got out to wait patiently for the train.

Look there is Thomas! Or "Moss" as Jhett says. We were super close to the train tracks. As the train was approaching the horn was SO LOUD! Jhett thought it was the coolest thing ever to be that close & see the train drive by. The best picture I could get. Did I really think I would get Jhett to look at me?? Yeah Right!

It was a fun day for sure! I didn't get pictures of everything like I wanted. When you have a kid who is running wild & another in a stroller it is hard to capture every moment. Even though most of the pictures don't show it, Jhett had a blast! We stopped by Sonic on the way home & all had 69 cent cheeseburgers. We got home at 3:00 pm. We did all of this in exactly 24 hours! Austin said he is so glad we got to spend that time as a family. It has been a while since we really had quality time like that together. It was a successful trip. I can't wait for our next adventure!

ReplyDeleteOn another note- the Thomas trip looked great. My boys would have been in heaven. In fact when they saw your pictures they wanted me to read about it to them:) That is such a good idea to do for a birthday present.
